This time in my life is foggy. It’s uncomfortable, unsure and a bit discouraging. It’s my walking ground right now. It’s called The Land In Between.
Like a potter sculpting his next masterpiece down to the finest detail, it’s a time that requires careful molding and trimming. At times for the potter, not all of the clay is needed to finish his masterpiece and can in fact hinder the finished product. It’s essential for the potter to remove it. The Land In Between is much like that.
As God, my Potter, transforms me into His fine craftsmanship, he is molding and cutting the dead off from my life. All the things that hinder me. People, habits, character defects. And even though it is necessary and healthy, it is uncomfortable as I learn to deal with a new “normal” for me.
The Land In Between.
Somewhere between the wrong and the right
Somewhere between the darkness and the light
Somewhere between who I was and who You’re making me
Somewhere in the middle you’ll find me
(Somewhere in the middle ~ Casting Crowns)
The Land In Between.
As I walk this path God has laid out for me, I find myself in many different Land In Betweens. Because every day is a day presenting a new journey…and because, quite frankly, God has his hands full with how much molding He’s got to do with me, it can seem like as I just come into the freedom found after traveling in this Land, I am forced to enter into another.
My new normal, for this time period, is uncomfortable and at times discouraging.
As I went into a devotion before I started blogging tonight, this popped out at me:
“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:6-9
God has me in this Land to mold me for His Kingdom. And while I can take that scripture in so many directions, these words immediately stood out to me: “Be strong and courageous”…”Be strong and very courageous”…”This is my command – be strong and courageous!”
I’m just guessing here, but if God says it three times in three verses, I’m guessing He kind of means it.
“Be strong and courageous…”
So I will hold onto that while I walk in today’s Land In Between…knowing the strength and courage I receive is by Him, for Him and from Him.
