About…obedience

Today we are 6 weeks from my first real overseas mission’s trip. I’ve missioned stateside numerous times and to Mexico a couple of times, and those each had their own lessons – and that was just about as uncomfortable as I wanted to get.

But God has other plans.

When I was called to Myanmar, I didn’t even know where in the world it was! Literally, I had to google it and then shrink the map down so I could get an idea. *Asia*  I never really had a desire to travel to Asia. I have wanted to go to Hawaii, or Jamaica, Rome or even Finland. But definitely not Asia.

And the cost of $2,800?! I’m building a ministry and could use that money for my ministry. I need a better website and business cards and all the start up costs that any business would demand. I can’t raise money for this trip, when I need it for my ministry.

(Who’s ministry?!)

Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it.”

God is calling me, so in obedience I will go.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” ~ Matthew 28:19-20

Today we received our flight itinerary and it made this commitment that much more real. 24 hours on airplanes. Chicago. Tokyo. Bangkok overnight. Then onto Yangon, Myanmar. 9,882 miles away from home.

As with most new ventures God has me on, I question “Why me?”

One day I might figure out I need to stop asking that dumb question. He never answers it immediately, but He always does answer and He always has a reason.

So tonight, as I prepare to sleep, I will be praying for the many fears I hold to be calmed, and for the peace to know that walking this journey with Him is the best place I can be…even if it’s half way around the world.
